Hair Removal Treatment
Hair removal is achieved by heating the hair follicle to a temperature of 70°C for at least 1ms.
By way of preparation, the treatment area should be free from cosmetic make-up, with the hairs slightly protruding above the skin. Cool gel is then applied to the skin to aid optical coupling and maintain a cool sensation to the area being treated.
The operator and client wear shaded glasses during the treatment.
The applicator’s glass head is held against the skin and a gentle but firm contact pressure is maintained to reduce the amount of blood in the immediate area. This ensures that the maximum energy reaches the hair shaft and also desensitises the nerves for a comfortable treatment. The operator fires the first treatment pulse, and then pauses for a short while looking for a little reddening around the hair shaft. The reddening indicates a successful treatment. At this point the client will be asked if they are comfortable with the procedure before continuation. The applicator head is moved across the skin with an overlap of about 1mm, firing pulses approximately every five seconds. (Approximately one minute for each underarm area).
With the treatment session completed a soothing lotion is applied to the treated area (like waxing), and clients are advised to refrain from using cosmetics, perfumed soaps and similar products for twenty four hours. No recovery time is necessary.
During the following days, the natural growth of the epidermis pushes out the treated hair.
